Our Legacy

Established in 1995 by James Neal McCoy, the Foundation is committed to continuing the McCoy family’s legacy of generosity in Wichita Falls.

James Neal McCoy (1933 - 2022)

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Born in Oklahoma, James (Jim) Neal McCoy graduated Seminole High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Oklahoma University and a Master’s of Science degree from Penn State University. Jim purchased Echometer Company in Wichita Falls, beginning his successful career that led to the establishment of the James N. McCoy Foundation in 1995.

Since its inception, the Foundation has provided support and financial assistance to a wide variety of educational, healthcare, and crime prevention organizations. Though he did not attend Midwestern State University, Jim’s support led to the establishment of a mechanical engineering program at the university, a rarity at a smaller institution. The program became known as the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering. Jim was considered generous personally and professionally and shared his innovations with colleagues in the industry.

Jim and Vicki McCoy

Vicki and all the Board members are devoted to continuing the family legacy of generosity and uplifting the community.
